My Parents, or Queer Innocence is a photographic film made from an ongoing series begun in 2025. My parents, aged 88 and 94, have been married for sixty years. For the occasion, as they have always done, they organised a costume party. I photographed the preparations: the wedding dress laid on the bed, the veil, the hat, pearls and make-up, the careful gestures, the fatigue of bodies and the stubborn joy of transformation.

The film brings these still images into duration and sets them against two well-known French popular songs. Their familiarity is important: they place this very private scene inside a shared emotional memory, at once tender, theatrical and slightly excessive.

Nothing is staged, but everything seems to shift. Gender roles loosen, the couple becomes plural, age refuses disappearance. In this intimate choreography, the word queer returns to its first sense: a strangeness, a step aside.

For my parents, growing old is not withdrawal, but the continuation of a lifelong practice of metamorphosis.
